Colin Greer schreef een theaterstuk Spinoza
Dikwijls doe ik voor dit blog een ´toevallige bijvangst´. Zo kwam er gisteren informatie over een stuk voor twee spelers dat Colin Greer schreef. Het artikel droeg de titel: A Jewish Prophet At The Vatican - Abraham Joshua Heschel’s meeting in Rome is dramatized in ‘Imagining Heschel.’ Dat stuk van Colin Greer gaat aanstaande maandag in het Cherry Lane Theatre in New York.
In dat artikel van Ted Merwin in The New York Jewish Week werd ook meegedeeld:
“Greer, who grew up as an Orthodox Jew in the East End of London, runs the New World Foundation, a New York-based organization that funds social justice movements around the globe. A former professor at Brooklyn College, Greer has published close to a dozen books on immigration and education policy and has penned a number of plays, including one about renegade philosopher Baruch Spinoza.”Dat doet mij dan verder surfen en het volgende vinden.
Colin Greer was a Professor at Brooklyn College, CUNY, and has written several books. Colin Greer has participated in and directed several studies of U.S. immigration and urban schooling policy and history (at Columbia University and CUNY), and Chairs numerous organizations. Dr. Colin Greer has been the President of The New World Foundation since 1985. [Hier méér]
Aldaar is ook een audio-opname te beluisteren met Colin Greer - A Discussion on Spinoza and the World Today with Michael Lerner, welke op 5 febr. 2010 is opgenomen.
Over het stuk Spinoza:
SPINOZA is a psychological journey into the mind of this 17th-century leading philosopher. When ex-communicated from the synagogue for his rebellious beliefs, he finds himself caught in a web of conflicted loyalties as he struggles to hold on to his fiancée, his trade (as a lens crafter), and his sanity.
