Website Bijlmer Spinoza Festival online

     

Al eerder, op 10 dec. 2008, werd op dit weblog melding gemaakt van de komende Spinoza Kunst Manifestatie in Amsterdam, getiteld My Name Is Spinoza. En nog eerder, op 4 mei 2008, werd op dit weblog al een bericht gemaakt over de aangekondigde komst van Thomas Hirschhorn naar Amsterdam-Zuid. En nog voordat ook maar iets bekend was, stelde ik toen de vraag: Maakt installatie-kunstenaar Thomas Hirschhorn weer een Spinoza Monument? Het antwoord is dus ´ja´ - en hoe!

De precieze data van Open Source Amsterdam Zuid-Oost zijn inmiddels bekend: van 9 mei tot 11 juli 2009.
Op 9 mei 2009 opent de Straat van Sculpturen haar eerste kunstmanifestatie: Open Source. Twintig internationale kunstenaars maken een kunstwerk. Vijftien werken zijn tijdelijk (voor 2 maanden of maximaal 4 jaar), vijf werken blijven permanent staan. De route loopt van metrostation Amsterdam Kraaiennest naar station Amsterdam Arena. De bezoeker kan wandelen (of fietsen of met de tuk-tuk) langs de kunstwerken. De werken zijn onder andere van beroemde kunstenaars als Thomas Hirschhorn, Pascale Martine Tayou, Jennifer Alora en Guillermo Calzadilla. De manifestatie is gekoppeld aan theatervoorstellingen, muziek, film, lezingen en discussies. Vrijwel alle scholen in de Bijlmermeer hebben hun lesprogramma’s in culturele en kunstzinnige vorming verbonden aan De Straat. Kunstenaars voeren projecten uit samen met de bewoners en de plaatselijke middenstand.  

Het Bijlmer Spinoza Festival, 'een kunstwerk van Thomas Hirschhorn’, maakt hier deel van uit - met eigen data: 2 mei tot 28 juni 2009 - met optredens van bewoners, met horeca uit het gebied en met dagelijkse uitzendingen van Radio Zuidoost.

De speciale website van het Bijlmer Spinoza Festival is inmiddels opengesteld en zal regelmatig worden geüpdate.

De pagina over Thomas Hirschhorn [born in 1957 in Bern, Switzerland; works and lives in Paris since 1984] vermeldt niet diens ‘Spinoza-Monument’ uit 1999. Maar onder ‘related projects’ is een foto van dit project aan de Oudezijds Achterburgwal in Amsterdam te zien – de derde foto die hiervan nu op internet te vinden is.

Op de site is iets van de kunstfilosofie van Hirschhorn te lezen, samengevat als: Presence and Production [Which means: my presence (the artists' presence) and my production (the artists' production) first of all, because that's the condition which makes participation become possible for the inhabitants of the Bijlmer neighborhood of Amsterdam. Therefore 'participation' is not the aim of this work, 'participation' can be the consequence of my presence and of my production. I am the one who must give something of myself first, in order to invite the Other (the inhabitant) to give something in turn.]
Ook zegt hij iets over zijn interesse in Spinoza.

Het wordt dus een kunstproject waaraan veel wordt voorbereid, maar dat vooral ook gedurende de festivalperiode als een – spinozistisch - levend kunstproject ontstaat en een tijdje zich almaar ontwikkelend voort bestaat.

Er komt een Spinoza-Theater:  Een ontologische komedie in 26 taferelen. [I want to give a living voice to the figure Spinoza. The Spinoza-Theater will be performed daily by the inhabitants and addresses the public of the Bijlmer. What is most important in this play is the energy and the idea of giving a voice to the text. I will be directing the actors/actresses myself - it will be my first directed theater piece. The Spinoza-Theater has three "guidelines": “the effort of a gym”, “the chorus of philosophers” and ”the banning sentence”. The daily performance of the Spinoza-Theater is meant to give the idea of permanency and universality. Marcus Steinweg is the author of this play - It is his first theater text.]
De tekst en vertaling is al op de site te vinden. Het stuk zal in het Nederlands gespeeld worden door bewoners van de Bijlmer.

Er komt een kleine Spinoza-tentoonstelling [several documents lent by the “Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica” in Amsterdam will be exhibited among other objects] Onder 'Spinoza-Exhibition' bevinden zich ook een paar amateurvideo's met secretaris van de Ver. Het Spinozahuis, Theo van der Werf, bij het Spinozahuis in Rijnsburg.

Ook een documentatiecentrum over de Bijlmer als woonproject.

Er wordt een constructie gebouwd [The large wooden book of "The Bijlmer Spinoza-Festival" will be built by a construction team of inhabitants, in collaboration with the local "Continental Sport" group]

 

Er komen lezingen en korte seminars [by invited philosophers. Marcus Steinweg will - for example - give a lecture every day. Other philosophers will speak about Spinoza and give other philosophical-lectures as well]. Op 't weblog van Open Source Amsterdam stond op 3 febr. te lezen: "Thomas just e-mailed me from New York, where he is working on an exhibition at Gladstone. He has contracted the first world famous philosopher to come to the festival. I am dying to tell who, but I may not (yet). The website for The Bijlmer Spinoza-Festival will go on air pretty soon. Maybe he'll disclose the name on the site." Ben benieuwd om wie het gaat. Op de gisteren gestarte website staat nog geen naam vermeld.

Er komt een Spinoza-Car [a customized car dedicated to Spinoza]

Er komt een bibliotheek waarin men kennis kan nemen van Spinoza’s gedachtengoed  [The "Spinozahuis" in Rijnsburg has agreed to lend me a certain amount of books from their own library]

Er komen verder: een internet-corner, een webcam, a daily Newspaper, a daily broadcast about the events and the news concerning the artwork, een werkplaats en kinderhoek.

Kortom, alle reden voor Spinoza-fans om dit voorjaar en de vroege zomer de Bijlmer te bezoeken.
